It wasn’t the 2004 DNC speech. It wasn’t the Iowa victory speech. It wasn’t one of those speeches of his that exists on an entirely higher plane than all other political speeches. But it was the speech he needed to give. It cut McCain deep, and it should silence the Sean Wilentzes of the world who deny the substance of his candidacy. I can’t think of a better way to use his 50 minutes on the TV screen of every house in America.
