Clark Hoyt’s public editor column in yesterday’s NYT has been getting attention for its chronicling of the paper’s internal debate over hiring Bill Kristol (given as “public editor” at the NYT means “knee-jerk liberal-bias accuser”, Hoyt is all in favor of it), but I was struck by Hoyt’s sharp sense of humor:
“Pretty much the worst idea ever,” grumped Gawker, the New York media gossip Web site.
Hiring Kristol the worst idea ever? I can think of many worse.
Hyperbole? From Gawker? Surely, I’ve never seen such a travesty before.
