Fox Uses It

Indie rock’s gotten pretty popular over the past year. Modest Mouse hit #1 on the Billboard 200, with the Arcade Fire and the Shins not far behind at #2; SNL’s musical guests (Spoon, Björk, Yo La Tengo) turned into a who’s who of the indie world; and everyone and their mother has now seen the music video for “1234“, thanks to the good folks at Apple. But I was still taken aback a couple minutes ago when, at the end of a commercial break for the Sugar Bowl (go Rainbow Warriors!), Fox played “Use It” by the New Pornographers. I mean, holy crap. Not only did they play a song by a band I actually like, they played my favorite song by a band I actually like. Witness the awesome:

I never thought I’d say this, but good call, Fox. Good call.
